Obama Weak on National Security

Uh... yeah. Right.

Yemeni officials said an airstrike killed a top al-Qaeda leader who was wanted in the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole.
Local official Abu Bakr bin Farid said Fahd al-Quso was killed Sunday, along with an aide, in an airstrike in the southern Shabwa province.
The Yemeni Embassy in Washington confirmed the report.
The airstrike resembled earlier American drone attacks, but the U.S. did not immediately confirm it.
At this point, about 20 of the Top Commanders of Al Qaeda captured or hunted down under directives from the Obama administration, including Osama Bin Laden. Now whether or not you agree with the drone strike policy is another argument, but if we are really in the middle of a "war on terror" which in my definition consists of neutralizing and dismantling terrorist groups, then you can't deny the success rate of the last three plus years. President Obama weak on national security? Just not even remotely true.

Do I Look Like A Terrorist?

Posted by Desert Crone

No, I don't look like a terrorist. I look like a 63-year-old woman--who has had a knee replacement, a heart attack, and kidney cancer. Yet, every time I board an airplane, my knee sets off the alarm, and I am frisked and "wanded." It doesn't matter that I have a very official looking card from my doctor attesting to the fact that I have a titanium knee. I offer that card to every TSA agent I can corner, but they aren't even interested in giving it a glance.

Before I walk through the thingy that dingies, I tell the agent that I will sound the alarm--that I have a knee replacement and a very official card. Still, I'm just ushered through with a loud announcement "WOMAN NEEDS TO BE SCREENED!" And then I am "wanded" and frisked. TSA says, "Now I am going to touch your breasts with the back of my hands." Oh yeah, well, you better frisk around my knees then because I AM SIXTY-THREE YEARS OLD!

I have been tolerant and even jocular about all this hoopla until June 10. I walked through the dingy thingy wearing my flip flops. The TSA agent scowls as he tells me to take off my flip flops as if I might be hiding a bomb in my Crocs. Then I walk through and set off the alarm again. I tell Mr. Cranky I have a metal knee, but he again glares at me and yells "WOMAN NEEDS TO BE PATTED DOWN!" He was clearly irritated with me.

As usual, I am ushered to the glass stall--screw privacy--and patted down. However, as I looked through the four other glass stalls, I see three more old ladies being patted down. One ol' gal has a neck brace on and another has to be helped out of wheelchair for the pat down.

By the way, TSAs are now being screened at least one time during each work day because some have been caught smuggling drugs on the planes. They are screaming in protest--which is a nice segue into my point.

I am ready to scream in protest, "I am mad as hell, and I'm not taking it anymore!"

Why are we wasting time and money on this false sense of security? Four old women wearing a neck brace, sitting in a wheelchair, and wobbling on one good knee didn't fly airplanes into the Twin Towers. I'm not advocating profiling, but I want my government to use some common sense. Alas, I've always been an idealist.

(I wrote this piece three years ago when I was 60. In light of the story of the elderly woman who had to have her Depends removed, I thought this was apropos. Now, when I fly, I have to go through the body scanner AND the pat down, which is more like “May I feel you up, old woman?” Hey, whatever turns you on.)

Hannity: America Caused Muslim Hostilities? NO WAY

Sean Hannity doesn't understand why some believe that American actions in the Middle East has caused anti-American sentiment.

Via GottaLaff:

Convenient time to cut to a commercial after four consecutive legitimate questions from a Frank Luntz focus group in opposition to what Hannity is desperately trying to push.

Obviously, Hannity is not so naive to believe that US foreign policy has absolutely nothing to do with anti-American sentiment by jihadists and terrorist (not "Muslims"), but when your agenda is such that you have to push the GOP/Newscorp line and are laughing you way to the bank because of it, you just act stupid and shrug your shoulders in disbelief.

ADDING... Gee, I wonder what gives the outside world the idea that America is so frightened that it rages against an entire religion?

WHAAAAH?!

Seems President Obama has been killing too many terrorists according to the MENSA members at CPAC.

"Why have executions increased?" asked Viet Dinh, a professor at Georgetown University Law Center and one of the authors of the USA Patriot Act. Dinh complained that "the president and vice president expound this fact as a fact that they are actually successful in war."
"That doesn't mean I think they are not illegitimate," he added. "No, we have every right to kill the other side's warriors. But at what cost? When we do not have an effective detention policy the only option we have is to kill them before we can detain them. And if we don't detain them, we don't know what they know and what they are up to."
Over the course of the last week or two, the military had taken out or arrested to leaders in the Taliban and has them in disarray in Afghanistan. But now that it's not a Republican president making the calls, somehow Obama is doing it wrong. I thought the Democrats were weak on terrorism. So why is it that these morons at the CPAC conference are cheering at this ridiculous notion that we're "killing too many terrorists"?

Supporting The War On Terror

I love Sarah Silverman. I remember getting a postcard for one of her upcoming shows years ago before she was Sarah Silverman. I mean, she's always been Sarah Silverman but before she became the famous Sarah Silverman, and I thought (when I had that postcard in my hand), "Gee, she's pretty hot. Did I ever meet her? How the fuck did I get on her mailing list? Why are people randomly putting my address on someone's mailing list?! Now I'm getting these stupid ass postcards peddling some person I don't even know and she'll probably sell her list to someone else, and before you know it, I'll have assholes knocking on my door trying to sell me on fucking Amway!" ...But I digress.

I never did go to that show, but if I had, I would have witnessed one helluva comedic genius before the rest of the world knew her. Anyway, here she is with an important public service announcement on how we can help with the war on terror.

T Minus 136 Days

"You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror."
