The current crazy crop of the GOP is a harvest for Jon Stewart and The Daily Show. They can fill hours upon hours of broadcasting just covering the insanity coming from the pieholes of these nitwits.
Absolutely no sense of history, these yokels. And they are elected representatives. It makes me sad for my country knowing there are soooo many that can be so easily duped.

And They Want To Be Taken Seriously
Markos Moulitsas at the Daily Kos just tweeted about a new Republican poll he's still scouring over. Here are a couple of stats via Twitter:
Just got back big poll of 2,000 Republicans. Gotta digest it, but 39% of them want Obama impeached. This is a national poll taken by 2,000 Republicans. And this party wants to be taken seriously. But I suppose this is what happens when you watch nothing but Fox News Channel all day and Glenn Beck is your hero.
~ 63% think Obama is a socialist, only 42% believe he was born in US, 21% think ACORN stole 2008 elections.
~ Actually, on the "ACORN stealing 2008 election for Obama" Q, 21% say yes, 55% say "not sure"
~ 53% think Sarah Palin is more qualified to be president than Obama.
~ 23% want to secede from US.
~ 73% think gay men and women shouldn't be allowed to teach in public schools
~ 31% want contraceptives outlawed
I'm sure he'll wrap this up in a post. Stay tuned.

Et Tu, Washington Post?
The Lie That Will Not Die
Here's the Washington Post front page "news" story of the "assumption" of a conservative Republican that Barack Obama is Muslim. As the Daily Kos reports, "Actually, calling them rumors gives them too much credence. It would be more accurate to call them blatant lies, yet the Washington Post has decided to give them a national platform. The only thing missing from this story is the siren at the top of the page."
The Post article even goes so far as to use the Snopes.com mythbusting website to continue the attack, only to leave out that Snopes reports the rumor is false.
Kos:
Another e-mail, on a site called Snopes.com that tracks Internet rumors, starts, "Be careful, be very careful." It notes that "Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim," and that "since it is politically expedient to be a Christian when you are seeking political office in the United States, Obama joined the United Church of Christ to help purge any notion that he is still a Muslim."
This is immediately followed with a line about a CBS poll that showed, "a huge number of voters said they did not know Obama's faith." What the Washington Post didn't bother to address? What Snopes.com had to say about the story:
Claim: Illinois senator Barack Obama is a, "radical, ideological Muslim."
Status: False.
It's over. The Washington Post has become the Weekly World News.
**UPDATE: Bob Cesca at Huffington Post has more.
