Stewart vs. Cramer: Brawl Street

I watched the edited version on Comedy Central last night and thought Stewart said his piece and Cramer took it like a man. Watching the unedited (and in my opinion, much better) version, there was more of a dialogue that I wish they had time to air on the show. That being said, maybe it'll make Cramer rethink the hype, give a fairer assessment on his program and get rid of the "Booyah!" plastic sledgehammer.

I used to watch these CNBC shows and initially thought that they were working for the interest of the viewer. But the events of the past year, especially the last two months, the tone seemingly changed to a "Blame Obama" mentality (maybe I'm biased) when this crisis was years in the making and Obama had been in office for two months, culminating with the Santelli rant that has the appearance of having been planned far in advance, I have to wonder what dubious or perhaps nefarious factors are at work here.

Jon Stewart may work at Comedy Central, but his style and crackerajck team has been at the forefront of exposing hypocrisy without the need to pull punches like so many "journalists" who fear losing access.

My prediction is that CNBC will suffer reduced viewership, will need an intense overhaul and if not, possibly cease to exist - and as far as the Cramer show, if he doesn't get rid of his big, red buttons and plastic cows and shed his sound effects for some more nuanced, serious financial discussion, he'll be gone by the end of the season. But what do I know?

This is an excellent interview, but my favorite part (with a guilty smile on my face) is when Stewart refers to Joe Scarborough as "Doucheborough."

Bill Kristol: Biggest. Douchebag. Ever.

I as soooooooooo glad I recorded The Daily Show last night. When I heard the name "Bill Kristol" come out of Jon Stewart's mouth, I almost got sick to my stomach. This is one of the most vile conservatives ever and at the same time such an easy punching bag because you can count on him to be wrong 99% of the time. I'm still looking for that one percent but I'm giving Kristol the benefit of the doubt.

But still, I just can't take anymore bullshit these last four days (FOUR DAYS!) before the election - I don't even listen to the live coverage from the Republican campaign trail anymore - and I certainly didn't feel like listening to the likes of Kristol after a long day, but Stewart is like a fine surgeon with his comedy scalpel and it was a lesson in how to deal with wingnuts.

Jon Stewart is my hero.



Stewart: Sarah Palin is from Alaska. They give a stipend from corporations to their citizens. That is Marxism, is it not? Isn't that redistribution of wealth?

Kristol: No, that's conservative economics. Helping those hard working citizens.

Audience moans and laughs in disgust.

Kristol: I'd would prefer to go with McCain's record in the Senate than Obama's record in the campaign.

Stewart: But [McCain] has repudiated almost that entire record during the campaign.

Kristol: Oh, nonsense. Nonsense. You're reading the New York Times too much, Jon.

Stewart: BILL, YOU WORK FOR THE NEW YORK TIMES!

Bill O'Reilly Is A Whore

Is there nothing this prostitute won't peddle? Trying to laugh off the viral video of O'Reilly exploding while the host of Inside Edition when he had much more hair, BillO suggested that there's much newer video of him blowing up due to a "contractual obligation" he has to "create a few dramas" for his co-workers, otherwise they'd quit. Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason, Bill.

By the way, he'd be happy to sell those videos to you.

Stephen Colbert's moment of "solidarity" with O'Reilly however, is priceless.
