President Obama's Weekly Address - November 26, 2011
On Thanksgiving, Grateful for the Men and Women Who Defend Our Country
This address was released on Thursday for Thanksgiving. But it wasn't good enough for the RWNJs... because President Obama didn't mention god in his address. ...Seriously. Even though millions of Americans are evil, heathen atheists, they don't count and how dare the Kenyan-born illegitimate president refuse, REFUSE, I TELLS YA! to acknowledge the almighty in his Thanksgiving address.
But as is the case with these non-stories, it's much ado about nothing.
Attention nutballs: You really have to take a step back and reflect on how foolish you make yourselves look. And I'm also awaiting criticism of your stellar GOP candidates, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, who also made Thanksgiving statements without mentioning god.Obama mentioned God once in a closing "God bless you," to Americans watching the Internet address. However, the President explicitly thanked God earlier in the week in his written Thanksgiving proclamation, which called the holiday "one of our nation's oldest and most cherished traditions," and an occasion that "brings us closer to our loved ones and invites us to reflect on the blessings that enrich our lives.""As we gather in our communities and in our homes, around the table or near the hearth, we give thanks to each other and to God for the many kindnesses and comforts that grace our lives. Let us pause to recount the simple gifts that sustain us, and resolve to pay them forward in the year to come," Obama wrote.

Rush Limbaugh's American History
A Very Special Rush Thanksgiving
Not a day goes by that Rush Limbaugh can't help himself but be on the opposite side of a Barack Obama statement. And this Thanksgiving was no different.
This time, Limbaugh tried to rewrite 400 years of American history by bastardizing the meaning of President Obama's Thanksgiving Day proclamation. While the President made reference to "the compassion and contributions of Native Americans, whose skill in agriculture helped the early colonists survive," Limbaugh, on cue, twisted it into some affront against America and how much Obama hates it.
What does Thanksgiving have to do with the Constitution which was created 166 in the future of that "first" Thanksgiving? And about the early settlers being invaders? Uh, yeah. They were. And isn't the fact that the 1621 colonists were helped by Native Americans in learning to harvest crops in soil foreign to the Pilgrims well known?"So, we were the invaders," complained Limbaugh. "We were incompetent idiots. We didn't know how to feed ourselves so they came along and showed us how and that's what Thanksgiving is all about.""This has got to be parody," Limbaugh said. "Somebody is toying with me. Somebody is seeing if they can get one past me. Somebody is trying to take advantage of me being not as focused on the day before Thanksgiving and falling for this prank.""He says nothing about the Constitution in his Thanksgiving Day proclamation because he's got a problem with it," Limbaugh claimed.
But hey, I suppose those who listen to Limbaugh don't tune in to get accurate history lessons, or accurate anything, really. They tune in to hear stuff like this:
Happy Thanksgiving, Rush, you racist bastard.Obama: "This Thanksgiving Day, we reflect on the compassion and contributions of Native Americans, whose skill in agriculture helped the early colonists survive, and whose rich culture continues to add to our Nation's heritage."Limbaugh: "...at their casinos and on their reservations."

'Tis The Season
When are 5am "door buster" sales going to be outlawed? Doesn't this seem to happen every year? The crowd at the Valley Stream, Long Island WalMart literally ripped the doors off the hinges to get in and shop on the morning after Thanksgiving. The store owners should be held responsible for negligent homicide.
There are a couple of easy ways to fix this.
1 - Beef up security.
2 - People were lining up at 9pm the night before. It's easy to hand out wristbands with numbers on them and then shoppers can go home for the evening. Your wristband determines what time you can return and enter the store in an orderly fashion to shop. Is that so hard?

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope you all enjoy the day. I am catching a 6am flight to Cincinnati to visit the in-laws for the day and coming back Friday evening, so posting may be light... unless something pisses me off.
Happy Turkey Day... except for the turkeys, of course.
