Keith's Back...

... on Tuesday.

In a statement last night, MSNBC President Phil Griffin said, "After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night's program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy."
I wonder if the deliberations and discussions included a 300,000 signature petition demanding Olbermann back?

You know, if they'd been smart, they would have just made it a two-day thing initially rather than "indefinite" because whatever they planned to do, everyone will think his return tomorrow was from the outrage. That either inflates the sense of power of people who really didn't have an impact and it makes the MSNBC leadership look wishy washy.

OR perhaps this was all a stunt. Create drama, get viewers rallying behind KO and inflate the value of the network. ;)

Who knows. I'm just glad he'll be back so Twitter can move on to the next drama. Maybe Palin will do something monumentally stupid today...

Well, "smart" is the operative word. But after doing some research, it seems that Griffin and Olbermann have butted heads in the past, and although others, like David Shuster have been suspended for much worse offenses, this seemed more of a stand to show Olbermann who's boss.

But I have no doubt that a 300,000 signature petition on MSNBC's highest rated show definitely influenced the outcome. That's a major part of their 25-54 demographic.

So basically, they couldn't afford to piss off the part of the audience that buys product.
