Health Care Bill Passes 219-212

Not one Republican member of the House of Representatives voted for HR3590. Remember that the next time a teabagger cries about not touching their Medicare or some such nonsense about what the founders wanted or intended. Just remind them that "promote the general welfare" is in the Preamble of the Constitution of the United States and what it actually means.

ADDING... Not just Democrats, better Democrats. Below is the list of Democratic House members who voted against the bill.

John Adler (NJ)
Jason Altmire (PA)
Michael Arcuri (NY)

Mentioned in the United States' Preamble to the Constitution, "Welfare" means health, happiness, prosperity or well-being. The country has an interest in promoting or maintaining the well-being and LIBERTY of its people.

A common misconception is that the "General Welfare" mentioned in the constitution is synonymous with our modern "welfare" programs.

Congress was granted the power to promote the general welfare of the nation by the Constitution of the United States. It means that Congress should provide laws that are in keeping with the principles of the SELF GOVERNED. It means that Congress may provide legislation that acts in a general best interest of a nation.

So, if I don't want health care I should be penalized. Where is my liberty or freedom? Sounds to me like a social program. Social=Socialist and communists are socialist.

Well Anonymous, (figures you're anonymous) when you happen to give up your SOCIAL Security, you can come back and argue like a grown up.
You should take heed to the sentence after "SELF GOVERNED."

" It means that Congress may provide legislation that acts in a general best interest of a nation." GENERAL BEST INTEREST OF THE NATION. Our current health care system was on an unsustainable course. And don't come back with tort reform crap which would knock about 2% of the costs of insurance. Or allowing interstate insurance - all the insurance criminals would do is move into an office in the least regulated state and do what they want, just like banks did with credit cards.

One more question: Why wouldn't you want health insurance? Are you invincible?

Your right Carl. Social Security is a Socialist Program. Created by a Socialist Party(Democratic Party)and signed by a Socialist President (FDR).

Carl, you just proved my point. With your negative sarcasm in the beginning of your reply "Well Anonymous, (figures you're anonymous)." If you had it your way you would have made me post my name, email, address, etc.. just to post a response but, since this country is a Republic I have the freedom to choose not to. Just as the Socialist Party (Democratic Party) have just forced this Socialist Health Care Bill down our mouths. If you would like to live in a country where the government forces things down your throat then by all means live in a communist country.

Carl, if you're mad then just say that you're mad. Have a good day. :P

If FDR was a Socialist President, then sign me up for Socialism. He was an American hero.

And your opinion has no weight until you sign your name to it. But that's just my opinion.

Hey Anonymous, paranoid much? I have no interest in your email, address or anything else. You must have me confused with right wingers that like to stalk children. And I'm not angry at all. I'm thrilled that the our government is finally trying to do something for the common good instead of just looking out for corporations. So yes, I'll live here gladly and willingly, but if you don't like it, you can leave. Nobody will stop you.

By the way, you should learn the difference between socialism and communism before engaging in any future debates.

Enjoy your new found socialist health care, and please don't forget to refuse your Medicare and Social Security when that time comes. Also, I hope you're not using those evil, socialist highways to travel or vacation in those evil, progressive national parks. If you need law enforcement assistance, don't call the socialist police department. And if your house catches fire, you can forget I hope you'll think twice before calling the socialist fire department.

U.S.S.R-Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics

HMMMMM..... Wasn't that a communist country?

LOL! Once again, please learn your history and the definition of Socialism and Communism before debating with grown ups.

People's REPUBLIC of China.

Isn't China a Communist country? And yet "Republic" sure sounds like "REPUBLICAN" to me. So according to your "logic," the Republican Party could be Communist! OH, LORDY!

So anonymous don't want health care rammed down his throat.I'm guessing hes already got something else down his throat. But seriously,If you don't want health care and you should get hit by a car by your thinking, you should be left to die!If you get cancer then theres no treatment for you since you don't have health care. No, I wouldn't let that happen to you since i'm a socialist at heart.
By the way anonymous, since you obviously feel government shouldn't be intruding in your right and liberties then I guess you hated when civil rights laws were passed in the 60s which ended your right to deny a black person the right to eat at your theoretical restaurant.Sometimes it has to be shoved down your throat.
