Jack Welch Can't Stand the Heat

Jack Welch, who knows a thing or two about cooking the books, couldn't stand that his demented, unsubstantiated allegation that the Bureau of Labor Statistics doctored the numbers to help the Obama administration in the upcoming election via the Twitters, was being criticized from all sides* and decided to quit (along with his wife) his position as contributor to Reuters and Fortune Magazine.

Welch said he will no longer contribute to Fortune following critical coverage of the former CEO of General Electric, saying he would get better "traction" elsewhere. On Friday, Welch suggested that the Obama administration, calling them "these Chicago guys," had manipulated the monthly jobs report in order to make the economy look better than it actually is just weeks before the election. Welch has been battered by criticism since making the suggestion on Twitter.
Welch apparently ended up at odds with various journalistic institutions that placed a higher premium on providing readers with objectively rational information about the economy, as opposed to flattering an old executive who sows derangement on the Internet. According to Gandel, Welch did not take kindly to a CNN Money piece that criticized Welch's original tweet, and was further angered by a Fortune piece, "detailing Welch's record as a job destroyer."

That, poor, poor multi-millionaire. My heart bleeds.

For Sale: One Tour Bus, Rarely Used, $100K OBO

Real Clear Politics: Less than a month after she appeared poised to shake up the Republican presidential campaign, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has once again receded from the 2012 limelight...
Though Palin and her staff never announced a timeline for the remaining legs of her trip, aides had drafted preliminary itineraries that would have taken her through the Midwest and Southeast at some point this month. But those travel blueprints are now in limbo, RCP has learned, as Palin and her family have reverted to the friendly confines of summertime Alaska...
More than a few of Palin's core supporters have grown impatient and confused about her strategy, venting their frustration on Internet fan sites.
Is there nothing Sarah Palin won't quit?

Palin Runs In Turkey Trot, Doesn't Finish

Oh Sarah, is there nothing you won't quit?

TriCityHerald.com: ...Palin had announced on Twitter that she would be running the 5k race organized by the Benton-Franklin Chapter of the Red Cross.
She didn't finish the race, opting to leave the course early to avoid more crowds at the end. About 40 minutes into the run, word started trickling out to people gathered at the finish line that she was gone...

Is There Anything Sarah Palin Won't Quit?

Just days after officially stepping down as governor of Alaska, former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is dropping out of an advertised speaking engagement in Simi Valley...
It was on Thursday that Palin’s spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton made public the news of the decision not to attend the event via Palin’s Facebook page.
Up to 900 people were expected to attend the event at $100 a ticket for members and $150 for non-members, but media had been barred from the occasion.
It's bad enough that Palin left her state in the lurch after declaring herself a lame duck and resigning, but is this what she meant when she said she was "willing to call an audible and pass the ball when it's time so the team can win"? She's running out of balls to pass after being passed over herself by Clear Channel for a possible radio show, and polls showing her Alaskan brethren aren't too happy with her point guard decisions.

Via Wonkette: "Facebook! She fucks these people over via Facebook. She’ll probably take Bristol out of her will via Twitter."

Now comes rumor of Todd and Sarah possibly divorcing. Is there anything Sarah won't quit?

UPDATE (9:10pm): Palin, or her spokesperson Meg Stapleton, has denied the divorce rumor... via Facebook!!! Maybe she should quit that.
