Marcus Bachmann on Gays: "Barbarians." Where's Dan Choi?

This is a particularly heinous thing to say:

"We have to understand: barbarians need to be educated. They need to be disciplined. Just because someone feels it or thinks it doesn’t mean that we are supposed to go down that road. That’s what is called the sinful nature. We have a responsibility as parents and as authority figures not to encourage such thoughts and feelings from moving into the action steps…"
That's GOP nominee contender Michele Bachmann's husband, Marcus Bachmann's position on homosexuality. He thinks they're "barbarians who need to be educated." I'm not going to blame Michele for her husband's words, although her statements obviously put her in the anti-gay faction.

But where's intrepid Lt. Dan Choi? Surely he would have the wherewithal to come out and condemn this atrocious statement. Marcus Bachmann is calling Dan Choi a barbarian that can be cured of the gay, so what does Choi have to say to that?

...*cricket*... ...*cricket*...

I haven't heard any of the news outlets mentioning any statement Choi might have and can't find anything relevant on the Internet. So I thought I'd take a look at his Twitterfeed to see his comments on being called a barbarian.

Hmmm... nothing. Just some more Obama bashing with a rehash of his snarky "What-I-think-Obama-means" tweet. What a leader for the LGBT community, huh? How very disappointing.

Will Bachmann Denounce This?

Mother Jones: With the Minnesota legislature in the middle of a heated debate over a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage in the state—the opponents of which, [Bradlee Dean, a Minnesota radio host, anti-gay activist] has pilloried on his radio show—the House Republican Caucus invited the controversial hair-metal evangelist to deliver the opening prayer for today's session.
How did it go? Well, the grand finale consisted of Dean alleging that the President of the United States is not a Christian. Via the St. Cloud Times:
"I end with this. I know this is a non-denominational prayer in this Chamber and it's not about the Baptists and it's not about the Catholics alone or the Lutherans or the Wesleyans. Or the Presbyterians the evangelicals or any other denomination but rather the head of the denomination and his name is Jesus. As every President up until 2008 has acknowledged. And we pray it. In Jesus' name."
I don't even know what to say about this because it's so stupifying.

The question is now whether Michele Bachmann, who has helped raise money for Dean’s traveling youth ministry and is a proponent of his anti-gay agenda, will denounce Dean and distance herself from that brand of lunacy in lieu of her possible presidential aspirations? I mean, she may be dumb, but she ain't stupid.

Douchebag of the Week: Ryan Sorba

Is this the kind of speaker with which CPAC wants to be associated? Giving credit to the crowd, they booed California Young Americans for Freedom representative Ryan Sorba off the stage after he went off on a tangent and condemned CPAC for inviting GOProud, a gay conservative group to the convention.

So much for the party of inclusion according to Sorba. Why any member of the gay community would associate him/herself with an anti-gay political party is beyond me, but judging by the current state of the Republican party and the collective intelligence of their leaders, I'm really not surprised.

Ryan Sorba: Douchebag of the Week.

Another Anti-Gay Republican Caught With His Pants Down

Republican Senator Larry Craig of Idaho is the latest in a string of "Family Values", anti-gay, conservative politicians in trouble with the law for illegal homosexual exploits.

The GOP may as well call itself the Gay Ol' Party after Senator Craig entered a guilty plea on "misdemeanor charges stemming from complaints of lewd conduct in a men's restroom at the Minneapolis airport."

Craig was arrested by an undercover agent in a Minneapolis airport after playing footsie with the man in the next stall. His excuse? "I have a wide stance."

He must need a wide stance to accomodate the size of the balls it takes to think the public would believe that excuse plausible. Of course, everyone is having a comedic field day with this one.

Here are a couple of goodies:

Martin Lewis, Huffington Post: Senator Larry Craig has not only been a vociferous opponent of the gay movement (except apparently his own gay movements) but it turns out to that he is yet another steaming hypocrite who has pandered to the vast gay-loathing base of the Republican Party.
Only like so many Republicans who have come before him (insert your own joke here) - he is revealed by his recent actions and guilty plea to be a self-loathing gay.

Nick Gillespie, Reason Magazine: The 62-year-old Craig doesn't just put the party back in the "Grand Old Party," though he certainly does that. Back in the day, he voted in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act, a clearly anti-gay measure, and he supported the constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.
America is the land of opportunity and more power to Craig if he wants to have consensual sex with men in toilets (although, good libertarian that I am, I do believe the owners of said facilities should be allowed to regulate what behavior goes on in their crappers).
But I find it despicable that Craig would deny the option of matrimony to gay men who want it. Shouldn't the people he wants to fuck have the right to decide if they, like Craig, want to enjoy the bounty of marriage? (Not to mention, as seems likely in Craig's case, the right of divorce?)

Since his guilty plea, Craig has resigned from his post as a co-chairman of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's Idaho Leadership Team, and is due to have a press conference in Boise, Idaho today at 4:30 EST.

UPDATE: Senator Craig denies any wrongdoing, blames the press, infers that the officer arresting him lied and claims, "I am not gay!" He starts his news conference with the unfortunate phrase, "Thank you for coming out today." If only you had, Larry, you might not be in this predicament.

Here's what hypocrite Craig had to say regarding Bill Clinton's heterosexual affair with Monica Lewinsky:
