Question: Don't most sites monitor their commenters (ex. for excessively inappropriate language)? I thought that was par for the course, though I do get the point that with all her talk of freedom one would hope that she
would be more open to differing opinions.

What I find even more interesting is the fact that I can read criticism(sarcasm?) in the posts that surrounded the one deleted, both here and in the previous example. For example the sentences containing '... it looked like maybe..... eyebrows in check.....'.

I happen to think that someone who has greater mastery of the English language and who loves a joke, could easily create nuanced responses that would slip under the radar at that site. Not much of what she and her writers have published to date show a commanding grasp of the English language. In addition, her censors don't seem sharp enough to spot more than the blatant criticisms - evidenced by the fact that they support her mindlessly? :)

This is just one example, Vicki. There are plenty of nuanced, reasoned, polite comments, but if they are in disagreement with the Mama Grizzly, they're scrubbed.

No, No, I didn't mean nuanced and reasoned in the normal sense. There seems no point in trying to reason with these guys. I was actually thinking of being devious - seeming to agree with 'Mama' but using vocabulary that would convey to keener, or more open, minds a subtler message. The nuance I was thinking of would be more in the meaning of the words, or in the play on words, than in the arguments offered. Remember the old expression, 'saying one thing and meaning another'? From what I've seen of Mrs. P's regime to date, I wouldn't encourage anyone to try to reason with her and her minions. Make fun of them, or outwit them, maybe. Reason with them, no.

Vicki,

Good questions, but I don't think they have code deleting the comments. I think they have real people. And/or if a comment gets flagged (which I am sure her fans do) they get deleted.

My husband wrote a pretty civil series of comments and all were deleted because he disagreed with her. Of course, they left all the responses which just makes it obvious that they delete comments or the fans are craaaazy. ;)

There was an article about this and Palin's page managers delete more comments than most other pages. I have seen HORRIBLE stuff stay at the White House and Obama pages without being deleted. Here's the article:

http://www.slate.com/id/2262544

And here's an older post Carl did about it:

http://broadwaycarl.blogspot.com/2010/08/sarah-palins-facebook-scrub.html

Some pages do have code and all delete to some extent. But Palin is a whole other monster, also, too. Oh, and don't forget that she thinks the first amendment is so precious -- well except when someone makes her look bad.

Yeah, I hear you both. Sigh! Appreciate your replies.

P.S.
(I did read those earlier columns. Though I don't always comment, I drop by at least once each day to see what the two of you are up to. :) I don't usually check this late, but I was playing computer scrabble and decided to do a quick check before signing off. Toodle-de-dooh, for Aug 10.)

Vicki,

Ahhh, computer Scrabble. I have a friend that starts about 10 games at a time. I don't know why -- I kick her butt 90% of the time. :)

:) Do you actually play online? I used to be able to years ago, with people from across the globe, but the site caved. Now I just play the game I've loaded onto my computer - for hours and hours at a time.

Continuing last night's discussion for just a wee bit longer (not trying to be obsessive or anything), but do you know if site moderators can use your name to track the sites you frequent, then use that info to disqualify your comment? I ask because I came up with the following comment this morning and am wondering if I should try it, or something like it on Sarah's site. Problem is I've never been to her site; my internet life has been spent at 'liberal' sites. Could I pass her security gate do you think?

Sarah,
Re: Conversation with Alaskan voter

I don’t understand what all the fuss is about. While I haven’t had the opportunity to listen to all your speeches, I find you to be an enthusiastic and involved speaker. I LIKE the fact that you have really expressive eyes. They are one of your best features. Ignore the LSM and continue to use your eyes to get your message across. Don’t let their criticism and relentlessness undermine your message. Those of us who truly understand you will make intelligent choices in 2012. Go Sarah!
Signed - Vic

LOL!! That's hilarious. I can just see her starting to send Morse code messages after reading that.

I think the first comment is allowed no matter what other pages you "like". My husband "liked" her page immediately before commenting and he "likes" Obama.

But I do have a second FB account that I thought I would use if I ever needed to separate my professional from my personal in the future. In the meantime, I was playing around to see if I could comment on her page and it wouldn't let me at all. It wanted me to enter my cell phone number for some odd reason.

I say to go for it. See how often you can post by seeming supportive. I'll bet a lot of people will "like" your comments.

OT, I play Scrabble on FB with my friends and family. It's fun.

If her site can ONLY be accessed by FB then I'm out of luck. I don't have a FB account and really don't want to get one. Ah well, writing my comment was fun! : )

You don't know what you're missing, Vicki. :)

I agree that it would be a great idea if someone started a site consisting solely of all the scrubs from her page.I'd love it!
